Community-based Program

The  Path  of  the  Tapir  Biological  Corridor  is  a  concept  of  which  even  most  local  residents  are  not   aware.    If  they  have  heard  the  name,  they  are  generally  unaware  of  its  purpose.    ASANA  must   change  this  and  better  inform  local  residents  to  ensure  their  engagement  in  the  conservation   issues  that  affect  their  lives.  In  addition,  the  Corridor  is  ready  to  take  its  place  on  national  and   international  stages  in  order  to  provide  it  with  the  legal  and  political  context  it  requires  to   achieve  success.    In  order  to  raise  awareness  of  the  Path  of  the  Tapir,  we  intend  to  develop  a  n  outreach  and  membership  campaign.    To  raise  awareness  in  local  communities  and   engage  residents  in  conservation  activities,  we  will  carry  out  an  outreach  and   membership  drive  called  "Are  you  a  Friend  of  Nature?"  If  an  individual  answers  "Yes,"   then  s/he  is  at  once  an  ASANA  ally  who  we  hope  will  work  for  the  conservation  of  the   Corridor  and  a  potential  member  of  ASANA  (the  Association  of  Friends  of  Nature...).  We   also  hope  to  extend  this  campaign  to  key  individuals  who  live  in  urban  areas  such  as  San   Jose  and  might  be  in  a  position  to  support  ASANA  activities.
